Trends and Trendsetters

Published by danisj at 5:12 pm under Trends Edit This

A trend is a general direction in which something tends to move.

In some cases, its something that observed after the fact. Someone buys something, you see it, you like it and you buy it. The next person sees it, they like it and they buy it. Then all of a sudden, everyone has it. Then we call it a trend.

But it seems that nowadays the media dictates what will be a trend before it happens. Trends for summer 2012– big blue hats! At least, thats what it seems like.

Do I follow trends? Definitely not. If I see something I like, I will buy it. If it happens to be something popular, then so be it. If its not, then oh well.

So who are the trendsetters? Media and celebritiesshould not dictate trends. Common people should be the trendsetters in all cases. People who can’t afford stylists and whatever else these celebrities have in order to help them. Those common people who have their own style.

This is why I like websites such as chictopia.com. Its full of all types of people who have their own style.

““Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” Coco Chanel

Celebrities don’t have real style, their stylists do. So stop idolizing Rihanna, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian, or whoever celebrity you think is a style icon and go get yourself your own style!
